A scent of book in the hustle and bustle
Danhai Reading Room is a pop-up shop style of work for New Taipei City Municipal Library. In order to offer a more convenient book service, they decided to relocate the reading room in Banqiao station to Danhai LRT Hongshulin Station. Meanwhile, they offer a comprehensive library service so that the passersby can borrow and return books every day.

Design Talk
Container house is the most commonly seen structure for a pop-up shop. During the design phase, we took surrounding into consideration in order to keep up with the cozy and relaxing render. Together with the steel frame above, Danhai Reading Room blended in perfectly. Plus the plain white as the main color tone and the wooden book shelves, it balanced out the coldness and added a touch of warmth to the station.
With the style of intellectual and literature, Danhai Reading Room brought a scent of book into the busy LRT station. At the left corner of the structure was painted “Tree of Intelligence”, sight going up with the growing branches, the passersby would see all types of books, showing the blooming knowledge and culture.
